Pro-Khalistan slogans were allegedly raised at a rally held by the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) here on Saturday.

The SAD (A) had last month announced to hold a peaceful protest near the International Border with Pakistan to push for the opening of the border.

As the party wasn’t reportedly allowed by security agencies to hold any such event near the International Border, the rally was held at a palace situated on the outskirts of the cantonment area here.

Addressing those present on the occasion, SAD (A) president Simranjit Singh Mann accused the Centre of “targeting” the Sikhs. He said the Pahalgam terror attack exposed the failure of Union Government, which could not prevent the incident despite many security agencies operating in Kashmir.

Mann demanded the opening of the Hussainiwala and other border points with Pakistan for bilateral trade.

“There is the only way through which we can ensure peace and prosperity on both sides of the fence,” said Mann.
