Probe team holds first meet in Mohali

Chandigarh, May 10

Under fire from within the ruling Congress, the three members of the new special investigation team (SIT) for the Kotkapura police firing case today held their first physical meeting in Mohali.

A government spokesperson said the officers of the new SIT, constituted by the state government on the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, on Monday held the meeting at the Vigilance Bhawan, SAS Nagar, to discuss the modalities for conducting thorough investigations into the Kotkapura incidents. Besides, the SIT has already held different meetings with the officers and officials of police and legal departments in this regard. The members had held virtual meetings earlier.

The spokesperson said with a view to collect more relevant evidence and information from the stakeholders, if not submitted earlier, and suggestions from any quarters, the SIT has provided an email [email protected] and a dedicated WhatsApp number 98759-83237 (without calling facility) to the public to furnish details or documents, if anyone desires, so that a free and fair probe could be conducted in an effective and efficient manner. The SIT has assured that as per the orders of the High Court, the investigations pertaining to both the FIRs registered at the Kotkapura police station would be concluded as expeditiously as possible and to take it at a logical conclusion in an appropriate time. — TNS
