Faridkot, May 5

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has started preparations to conduct the remaining papers of Class XII board exams. The exam had to be postponed on March 20, two days before the lockdown was imposed.

In view of the fact that the exams are crucial for admission to higher education institutions, the Controller (examinations), PSEB, in a letter to all District Education Officers (DEOs), on Monday asked them to submit a list of Class XII exam centres, which are either situated in red zones or being used as quarantine centres in the state, and submit a list of alternative exam centres in place of the identified centres.

The board has not given any definitive date to conduct the remaining Class XII papers, which include physics, mathematics, economics, geography, computer science, history, political science, among many others.

Sources in the board revealed that the exams would be conducted before the reopening of schools. The board would have to establish few new exam centres to ensure that the social distancing norms could be enforced.

Among the many queries that the board is receiving relate to the datesheet of the remaining papers and schedule for entrance exams for the new academic session.

Parents of students from science stream are more worried, as for their wards to take JEE, NEET and other entrance tests, they will have to meet the eligibility criteria, which can only be known after the results are out.
