PSIEC plot scam: Punjab CM grants sanction to Vigilance Bureau to prosecute six officials
Chandigarh, February 23
CM Bhagwant Mann has given nod to prosecute six officials of the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC) in a multi-crore industrial plot allotment scam.
In 2018, the Vigilance Bureau (VB) had sought permission from the then MD of the PSIEC to book six officials for their alleged role in allotment of 22 industrial plots.
The prosecution sanction has been granted under Section 17 (A) of the Prevention of Corruption Act against the PSIEC’s former chief general manager SP Singh, former general manager Jaswinder Singh Randhawa, former sub-divisional engineer Savtej Singh, former estate officer Amarjit Singh Kahlon, retired consultant Darshan Garg and Vijay Gupta.
These officials had allotted prime plots to their relatives instead of genuine industrialists, shared details of defaulting industrial allottees with unscrupulous persons, regularised plots at old rates and did wrong bifurcation of the plots.
“As the matter is part of Civil Writ Petition in the high court, the government has finally granted the prosecution sanction after a delay of over five years,” said officials on condition of anonymity.
