At a time when Punjab and Haryana are confronting with the issue of stubble burning, a Pune-based firm working in the field of plant nutrition and pest management, has come out with a product that tackles the problem of stubble burning.
The product when mixed with urea and spread across the watered field decomposes the stubble in 15 days. For the farmers, per acre cost to farmers to decompose stubble comes out to be Rs 2,000.
Sandeepa Kanitkar, MD, Kan Biosys, said, “From the last two years, we have been working in Punjab and Haryana to stop stubble burning. The ban imposed by governments doesn’t act as a feasible option due to unavailability of adequate technology to reuse stubble so as to vitalise the fields.”
She added, “Taking all factors into account, the formulation launched by us called ‘Speed Kompost’ addresses all the issues. Apart from solving the menace of stubble burning, the product increases organic matter in soil, enhances water holding capacity of the soil and makes the usage of fertilizer efficient”.
