11 killed in truck-canter collision in Punjab's Ferozepur
At least 11 people were feared dead in a road accident that occurred in Ferozepur on Friday.
According to reports, a collision between a pickup truck and a canter took place around 10 am near Golu Ka Mod, close to Guru Har Sahay in Ferozepur.
The accident is believed to have been caused by a tire burst of the canter. All passengers in the pickup truck were returning after working at a marriage palace in Jalalabad.
Satnam Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Guruharsahai, said that as soon as the matter was reported, teams from the Sadak Suraksha Force (SSF) reached the spot and started the rescue operation.
The injured were sent to the nearest hospitals in Guruharsahai, Jalalabad and few of the critically injured were referred to the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College in Faridkot.
He said the pick-up van was carrying more than 20 people.
