The Punjab Police had arrested Narang on June 27, 2016, and he was imprisoned for around six years. Though his direct involvement in the jail break was not proved, investigation reportedly indicated that he had allegedly helped Gounder. Thus, the Bishnoi gang considered Narang as their enemy.

Notably, Gounder was killed in an encounter by the Punjab Police near Hindumalkot, Sriganganagar, in January 2018.
