Punjab Briefs: 109 plaints disposed of at 3rd NRI Milni
Chandigarh: As many as 109 complaints by NRIs were addressed during the third NRI Milni, a press note said here on Sunday. Of these, 56 complaints were received through email, while 53 were received via WhatsApp. As per the NRI Milnis-2024 report, a total of 309 complaints were registered, and of these, 256 have been disposed of.
Sikh body launches ‘Panthak Padav’
Ferozepur: Misl Satluj, a Sikh socio-cultural organisation, launched the first edition of its 'Panthak Padav' initiative at a gurdwara in Thethar Kalan village of Ferozepur on Sunday. Outfit general secretary Davinder Singh Sekhon said the emphasis was on keeping youth away from drugs.
Fazilka farmer to be honoured
Fazilka: Karnail Singh, a farmer from Ghatian Wali Bodla village in Fazilka district, has been selected for the Innovative Farmer Award by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI, Pusa). The award will be conferred upon him during the Kisan Mela to be held in New Delhi on February 24.
MC clerk held for taking Rs 20K bribe
Muktsar: Vigilance sleuths arrested Suresh Kumar, a clerk posted at Malout Municipal Council, while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a widow on Sunday. The complainant had informed the Vigilance authorities that the clerk was demanding Rs 50,000 from her for the construction of her house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
