AAP candidate Ishaan Chabbewal and BJP's Manpreet Singh Badal filed their nominations for the Punjab Assembly byelections on Thursday. Ishaan filed his papers for the Chabbewal Assembly byelection, while Manpreet filed his nomination for the Gidderbaha bypoll.

The BJP candidate was accompanied by Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu and senior party leader Avinash Rai Khanna.

He was elected to the Assembly from Gidderbaha on a SAD ticket in 1995, 1997, 2002 and 2007, and had from the Bathinda Urban seat in the 2017 Assembly poll on a Congress ticket. However, he lost the seat in the 2022 elections. He joined the saffron party in January 2023.
