Punjab Cabinet reshuffle tomorrow, 5 ministers likely to be dropped
The Punjab cabinet will have six new ministers, while five ministers are likely to be dropped by the Aam Aadmi Party in the cabinet reshuffle scheduled for Monday evening.
The state government has already sought time from Governor Gulab Chand Kataria for inducting the new ministers in the cabinet tomorrow. A number of senior ministers and some MLAs were called to Delhi on Sunday afternoon and a meeting with AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal is expected later in the evening.
Sources say the portfolios of some of the ministers could be changed, in what is being considered a major overhaul of the cabinet in the aftermath of the Lok Sabha poll results and the information gathered by Kejriwal since having been released on bail earlier this month.
This is the fourth time in the 30-month old AAP government rule in Punjab that the cabinet reshuffle is being effected. As of now, there are 15 ministers in the cabinet, including CM Bhagwant Mann. There can be a total of 18 ministers in the Council of Ministers.
Sources in the government told The Tribune that five of the sitting ministers are being dropped. These ministers have already been asked to submit their resignations. Those likely to be dropped include Chetan Singh Jouramajra, Balkar Singh, Brahm Shankar Jimpa and Anmol Gagan Maan.
The new inductees could include Mohinder Bhagat, Ravjot Singh, Taranpreet Singh and Hardeep Singh Mundian.
