Chandigarh, January 23

To promote the use of canal water over the drawal of already depleting groundwater in the state, the Punjab Council of Ministers will deliberate on a new ‘charge policy’ for the use of canal water at the Cabinet meeting to be held tomorrow.

The meeting, being held after almost two months, will be chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Under the policy, it is proposed to provide canal water to industries at the cheap rates.
