Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today downplayed the resignation of Anmol Rattan Sidhu saying the Advocate General had cited personal reasons to quit.

“I kept asking the AG to continue, if possible, but he said he had personal reasons and prior engagements. He was not unhappy. He is still part of our team and we will continue to take his legal opinion,” said the Chief Minister, who was in Parliament for some paper work today.

Mann Govt going Channi regime way

It seems the Mann government is ‘going’ the Channi government way! Then also, first DGP was removed, then the AG. — Sunil Jakhar, BJP leader

Mann equated the Parliament visit to a visit to one’s alma mater, which brought back nostalgic memories.

“This is a temple of democracy. I began my political career here. I spent eight years in the Lok Sabha. Coming here is like revisiting one’s alma mater,” Mann said.

CM meets Jal Shakti Minister

Later, the Chief Minister met Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and sought special funds for rejuvenation of canal system in the state. The CM underlined need for a special package to strengthen and repair the existing canal system in the state.

He said Upper Bari Doab Canal, constructed in the pre-Independence era, was in bad shape. Mann sought the Union Minister's help for clearing the proposals submitted by the state government in this regard. Mann said it would help in enhancing the water carrying capacity of the canals and benefit the farmers of the state.
