Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann (48) will tie the nuptial knot with Dr Gurpreet Kaur (28) at a private ceremony tomorrow, sources in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said here today.

Only family members, including Mann’s mother, sister, relatives and a few guests will attend the wedding. Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal is also expected to attend the ceremony along with his family members, sources say.

This is Mann’s second marriage. He filed for divorce from his first wife Inderpreet Kaur in 2015. He has two children from that marriage —daughter Seerat Kaur Mann (21) and son Dilshan Singh Mann (17). Both attended Mann’s swearing-in ceremony at Khatkar Kalan in March this year.

Dr Gurpreet Kaur did her MBBS from Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Mullana (Haryana), in 2018. She did her schooling from Pehowa in Haryana. Cabinet Minister Meet Hayer said, “The mother and sister of CM Bhagwant Mann convinced him to marry again. Both families have known each other.” CM Mann thanked Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for congratulating him. All official meetings scheduled for tomorrow have been cancelled.

State ministers Harjot Bains and Aman Arora as well as party’s senior leader Raghav Chadha congratulated Mann on Twitter. “Wishing my CM Bhagwant Mann a very happy and blessed married life ahead. I wish them both a lifetime of love, respect and companionship,” Bains said.

Arora congratulated Mann for starting married life and wished “both a life full of happiness, joy, love and prosperity”. AAP leader Chadha gave his best wishes to Mann and his would-be wife.

Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring also congratulated the Chief Minister as he starts a “new chapter in his life”.
