Chandigarh, September 23
Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) MLA and former Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa today said the appointment of new Chief Minister of the state has made it clear that the decisions of the Congress high command were being imposed on Punjab without taking into account any ground reality. He said Punjab was in a dire need of the third alternative as the rulers sitting in Delhi could never do any good to Punjab.
Reacting to the developments in the Punjab Congress, Dhindsa said the people of Punjab should now realise that the Congress government could not take any welfare decision on its own as it depended on the ‘Delhi Darbar’. He added even the previous SAD-BJP government acted on the cues of the BJP. He said the Congress leaders were fighting among themselves for their vested interests, leaving the people in the lurch.
Dhindsa said looking at the activities of the newly appointed Chief Minister, it seemed like he was not only incapable of taking his own decisions but also blindly following the Congress high command and Navjot Singh Sidhu.
He said keeping in view the current political situation in Punjab, there was a dire need for leaders who understood the issues of Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiyat very well. Only a strong regional party could bring better change in the state, added Dhindsa.
Channi CM till elections: BJP
The BJP on Thursday alleged the appointment of Charanjit Singh Channi as CM was a poll gimmick and the Congress would betray the Scheduled Caste community. State BJP president Ashwani Sharma said: “Channi has been made CM to woe the SC vote bank. Punjab affairs incharge Harish Rawat has gone on record to say that Navjot Sidhu will be the Congress ‘face’ for the 2022 Assembly elections.”
