Punjab education department rewards 69 government schools with Rs 5 crore grants

The state education department has recognised and rewarded 69 government schools across the state with special grants totalling over Rs 5 crore. These grants aim to encourage academic excellence and were awarded to the best-performing schools in each district.

Three schools from each district were selected, comprising one senior secondary school, one high school, and one middle school. The grants were distributed as follows:

• Rs 10 lakh for each of the 23 government senior secondary schools, totalling Rs 2.30 crore
• Rs 7.5 lakh for each of the 23 government high schools, totalling Rs 1.725 crore
• Rs 5 lakh for each of the 23 government middle schools, totalling Rs 1.15 crore

The total allocation amounts to Rs 5.175 crore. According to a senior official from the education department, this initiative aims to motivate schools to strive for excellence in academics, infrastructure, and student performance.

The selected schools have demonstrated exceptional results and have been recognised for their contribution to the state’s educational development. The grants will be utilised for infrastructure development, procurement of learning resources, and other academic improvements
