Punjab floods: Special Assembly session adjourned after heated exchange between Bajwa, Cheema
The tense debate escalated after Leader of Opposition Partap Bajwa criticised government's handling of flood relief efforts
The special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha was adjourned on Monday by Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan following a heated exchange between the Leader of the Opposition, Partap Singh Bajwa, and Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.
The special session began on Friday to address the recent unprecedented floods that devastated the state.
The tense debate escalated after Bajwa criticised the government’s handling of flood relief efforts.
In response, Finance Minister Cheema countered Bajwa’s allegations by accusing him of promoting his own self-interest through land deals at the expense of others.
The confrontation disrupted the proceedings, leading the Speaker to adjourn the session.
