Punjab: Four boys die as scooter rams into stationary truck
Four school boys died when the scooter they were riding rammed into a standing truck at Lambra Road on Thursday morning.
The four deceased have been identified as Ekam (13), Jashandeep (15), Krish (15) and Suraj (14).
While Ekam and Jashandeep died on the spot, Krish and Suraj passed away on Friday. They all were students of Class IX at Government High School, Basti Bawa Khel. The accident occurred when they were heading to a dera at Nakodar on Thursday morning.
The families of two boys had been preventing them from undertaking a trip to Nakodar for the past few days but they slipped away early on Thursday morning.
Jashandeep’s sister Geetanjali said, “We had delayed his plans several times, asking him not to go to the dera. We stopped him on Sunday and Tuesday. But on Thursday while we were sleeping, he slipped out. Krish’s family too had locked the house to stop him from going.”
Jashandeep, who had taken his family’s Activa, was the only brother of two sisters.
Lambra SHO Bikram Singh said, “The four boys were riding an Activa together when it rammed into the truck. Their families have not made any complaint, hence charges haven’t been pressed against anyone.”
