Chandigarh, August 6

In a big relief to contract employees, the Punjab Government on Saturday announced a one-time relaxation in age limit for education providers/volunteers. The move is aimed at enabling them to compete for regular jobs through the direct recruitment for posts of ETT teachers.

Stating this here today, Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said the education providers/volunteers/EGS/AIE and STR volunteers had been rendering their services diligently in government schools under various schemes for years. They had been demanding relaxation as many of them had already crossed the age limit, he said.

Bains said CM Bhagwant Mann had taken the decision under Rule 19 of the Punjab Civil Services Rules, 1994.

The move will enable about 12,000 education providers/volunteers to apply for 5,994 ETT posts.
