Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Friday asked DGP Gaurav Yadav to act against those indulging in illegal sand-mining and resorting to violence against villagers in Sahnewal, Ludhiana.

He called for police action after a delegation of state BJP leaders, led by party’s Mahila Morcha president Jai Inder Kaur, met him in that regard. The delegation demanded strict action in the case, including cancellation of environmental clearance for the Rour mining site. Kataria assured them of action and directed the DGP to file FIRs against the attackers and submit a report on mining activity across the state.
