Punjab govt postpones appointment letter ceremony for 1,000 doctors indefinitely
The wait for nearly 1,000 newly recruited doctors in Punjab has been prolonged once again, as the state government on Monday postponed the scheduled program for distributing appointment letters indefinitely.
The ceremony, where the Chief Minister was to hand over joining letters at Punjab Municipal Bhawan, Chandigarh, was to be held on Monday. However, late last night, the candidates were informed that the event would not take place as planned, citing the CM’s engagement in flood-related work.
The indefinite delay has added to the doctors’ uncertainty. The PCMS recruitment exam was held on June 3, and document verification of 1,738 shortlisted candidates was completed by July 4. Of these, 1,000 doctors were to be appointed.
