Expressing concern over the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab Government’s laxity in forming a mining policy, the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa on Tuesday said that due to lack of a proper mining policy in the state, the crusher industry has been on the verge to collapse.

FALSE PROMISES

Kejriwal had committed to raise Rs 20,000 crore annually as revenue from mining. The government should have earned Rs 40,000 crore in two years. However, it has managed to earn only Rs 472 crore from mining. — Partap Singh Bajwa, Leader of opposition

“The crusher industry in the state has been bearing the brunt of the AAP’s apathy. The crushing machines worth crores in Rupnagar, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr and Mohali have been rotten with rust as they have been in a non-functional state for the past two years,” Bajwa added.

“Before Vidhan Sabha elections, AAP’s national convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had committed to raise Rs 20,000 crore annually as revenue from mining. With his calculation, the government should have earned Rs 40,000 crore in two years. However, in two financial years, it has managed to earn only Rs 472 crore from mining,” Bajwa added.
