Punjab-origin man Gurvinder Uppal (29), who was shot at in a suspected gang war in Delta, British Columbia, on Monday, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.

As per a report on the website of Canada Broadcasting Corporation (cbc.ca), this was the first murder in Delta this year while no killing was reported last year. The police said the killing seemed to be the outcome of British Columbia gang rivalries.

“These incidents have the hallmarks of BC gang conflict shootings,” the cbc.ca said quoting police officials. The report added: “Investigators believe it to be a targeted incident and not directed at general public.”

A white truck was found engulfed in flames on the 7300-block of Blake Drive in Delta shortly after the shooting was reported, and the police said they believed it was linked to the shooting incident.
