Canadian MP Ruby Sahota tweeted: “I’m heartbroken to learn about the violence directed at protesting farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri, India. My heartfelt condolences to the families of those who were killed or injured. I add my voice to the growing calls for justice and accountability.”

UK MP Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi tweeted: “Devastating to learn about the trampling to death of peaceful #FarmersProtest activists and others in #LakhimpurKheri India. My heartfelt condolences to the families for their immense loss. Hope the authorities and media will treat them fairly, because they deserve justice now.”

Another MP from Canada, Jasraj Singh Hallan, tweeted: “Heartbroken at the news of four farmers killed and others injured in Lakhimpur Kheri who were peacefully protesting. Those responsible must be brought to justice.”

Khalsa Aid founder Ravi Singh tweeted: “All Indian political parties will treat Sikhs as 2nd class citizens when we seek justice! Why did Rakesh Tikait accept blood money from the UP government for the four murdered Sikhs without seeking full justice? Terrible decision.”

Gurrattan Singh, activist in Canada, tweeted: “Horrified to hear that members of Modi’s governing BJP party attacked and killed peaceful farmers protesting for their rights in #LakhimpurKheri. Those responsible must be brought to justice and Modi must answer to the public and be held accountable for these crimes.”
