Punjab Police go top-heavy as 8 senior officers promoted to DGP rank

The state police force now has a record 20 officers holding the rank of Director General of Police

Punjab Police has become top-heavy with a record 20 officers now holding the rank of Director General of Police (DGP).

On Monday, eight IPS officers from the 1994 batch were promoted from the rank of Additional DGP to DGP.

Those promoted include: Dr Naresh Kumar, Ram Singh, Sudhanshu Shekhar Srivastava, Praveen Kumar Sinha, B Chandra Sekhar, Amardeep Singh Rai, Neeraja Voruvuru, and Anita Punj.

Gaurav Yadav remains the DGP (head of police force) and the top cop in the state. This is the highest number of DGP-rank officers ever in Punjab Police.
