Chandigarh, April 18

Punjab Police have solved the hand grenade attack at CIA office, Nawanshahr, by busting a major Pakistan-based terror module run by Harvinder Singh alias Rinda with the arrest of its three operatives.

This was stated by DGP VK Bhawra here on Monday.

Unidentified people on the intervening night of November 7 and 8, 2021, had hurled a hand grenade at CIA office Nawanshahr with the intention to kill the police officials. However, police officials present in the CIA office had escaped unhurt.

Those arrested have been identified as Manish Kumar alias Mani alias Baba, a resident of Bains village in Nawanshahr, Ramandeep Singh alias Jakhu of Atta village in Goraya in Jalandhar district and Pardeep Singh alias Bhatti of Sahlon village in SBS Nagar. The police have also recovered a live hand grenade from the possession of the accused.

Bhawra said that after extensive and sustained investigation, the Counter Intelligence wing and the SBS Nagar police managed to arrest the three accused involved in the attack.

During interrogation, Ramandeep confessed that he, along with Manish, had thrown the hand grenade at the Nawanshahr CIA Office on the directions of Harvinder Singh alias Rinda, said the DGP, while adding that Ramandeep had picked up two hand grenades from the location at Ludhiana-Ferozepur road as guided by Rinda.
