An emergency meeting of all unions and associations representing Punjab’s power sector was held today to discuss plans to sell assets and properties of PSPCL and PSTCL.
The meeting was attended by Jatinder Garg, Devinder Goyal, Ajay Pal Singh Atwal representing PSEB Engineers’ Association, Amandeep Jehlvi, Chanchal Kumar, Vikas Gupta from Council of junior engineers, S Kuldeep Singh Udhoke, S Harpreet Singh, Gurpreet Singh Jassal from Technical Services Union, S Avtar Kainth of Bijli Mulazim Shangarhsheel Morcha, S Gurvinder Singh from SCBCEWF, Amit Kumar, Ashish Singh from PSEB Accounts Audit & Administrative Services Association, Tejinder Singh PSPCL/PSTCL IT Officers Association, S Reetinder Galwatti HR Officers Association.
A unanimous decision was taken to oppose the move to sell or lease valuable lands and assets of the power sector. It was resolved that all employees, engineers and officers will oppose this move to sell properties in the name of monetisation — properties on which power houses, offices and stores are situated, as well as vacant lands that would otherwise be used for the department’s future growth to serve the public.
Such actions could jeopardize the very existence of PSPCL and PSTCL. Today, a protest demonstration was held in front of the PSEB Head Office main gate against the government’s attempt to sell off valuable lands of the power sector under the name of monetisation.
The leadership of all unions issued a warning that if any attempt is made which may cause harm to the department’s properties/assets, then all unions across Punjab will launch immediate protests.
