Punjab Public Service Commission chief, CIC take oath of office
Chandigarh, January 29
Governor Banwarilal Purohit today administered the oath of office to the newly appointed Chairman of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) Jatinder Singh Aulakh and state’s Chief Information Commissioner Inderpal Singh.
Chief Secretary Anurag Verma conducted the proceedings of a brief and impressive swearing-in ceremony at Punjab Raj Bhawan this evening.
Aulakh, a 1997-batch former IPS officer of the Punjab Cadre, hails from village Bargari (Faridkot). During his long stint of 33 years in the Punjab Police, he rose through the ranks starting as DSP to finally retiring as ‘intelligence chief’ in the rank of ADGP. Aulakh did his schooling from PPS, Nabha, BA (Honors) from DAV College, Chandigarh, and LLB and MA History from Panjab University.
Serving as SSP, he headed various districts, including SAS Nagar, Sangrur, Ropar, Jagraon, SBS Nagar and Khanna. He also served as Commissioner of Police, Amritsar and Ludhiana, IG, Patiala, and Ferozepur Range, IG, Headquarters and Intelligence. He retired in the rank of ADGP as Chief of Intelligence Wing.
Likewise, advocate Inderpal Singh also took oath as the Chief Information Commissioner, Punjab. Born in 1963, Inderpal Singh is a name to reckon with in the legal circles and is on the panel of Union of India, standing counsel for the British High Commission, elected Member, Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana High Court, and later on elected Vice-Chairman, Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana High Court. He was appointed on August 20, 2022, as Senior Additional Advocate General, Punjab.
Prominent among others who attended the function included Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora, Brahm Shanker Jimpa and Gurmeet Singh Khudian, Special Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister VK Singh, DGP Gaurav Yadav, Director Media to Chief Minister Baltej Singh Pannu, PPSC Members Gurpartap Singh Mann, Supreet Ghuman and Harmohan Kaur Sandhu, State Information Commissioners Asit Jolly and Amrit Pratap Singh Sekhon.
