Punjab reports 172 new coronavirus cases, five deaths

Jalandhar, July 4
Punjab reported 172 new cases and five deaths in the past 24 hours, the state’s COVID-19 bulletin showed.
Two deaths were reported from Moga, one each from SAS Nagar, Amritsar and Hoshiarpur.
A 25-year-old man died in Amritsar’s Government Medical College, taking the district’s fatality count to 48.
The district has reported 9 new cases, taking this district tally just short of 1,000.
Seven persons are on oxygen support and one is on ventilator in Punjab.
Of the other districts, Jalandhar reported the highest number of coronavirus cases at 61.
Ludhiana (46), Sangrur (16 ), Bathinda (6), SAS Nagar (5), Ferozepur (5), Patiala (3), Kapurthala (3), Gurdaspur (2), Pathankot (2), Moga (2), Tarn Taran (1), Hoshiarpur (1), SBS Nagar (1), Fatehgarh Sahib (1), Ropar (1), Fazilka (1), and Mansa (1) all reported new cases.
A 62-year-old woman from Hoshiarpur’s Chakkowal died at Jalandhar’s Military Hospital, Jalandhar. Officials said she had diarrhoea—a less common symptom of coronavirus.
The state bulletin says 1,641 people are under institutional quarantine. Some 28 people are on exygen support and three people are critical and on life support.
The bulletin also shows 4.306 patients have recovered and been released from hospitals across the state.
