Rail mishap victim dies

A 50-year-old woman, whose legs had to be amputated after being hit by a train at the Panjkosi railway station near Abohar last week, died during treatment in a hospital at Amritsar. Her body was brought to the Civil Hospital for autopsy, after which it was handed over to the kin.

Kulwant Singh, grandson of Kirpal Kaur of Bakainwala village, said she had gone to meet her relatives in Fatehabad. He said last Monday, at about 10 pm, she started getting off a train and lost balance, due to which she lost both her legs. He said she was brought to Abohar Civil Hospital for treatment. As her condition was serious, the doctors referred her to another hospital, where she died late last night.
