Rajvir Jawanda, Punjabi singer, succumbs to injuries days after Himachal road accident

Cremation to be held in native Pona village near Jagraon in Ludhiana on Thursday

Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda, who sustained serious injuries following his road accident on September 27, passed away on Wednesday. He was 35.

Fortis Hospital, Mohali, Director Abhijit Singh confirmed that Rajvir Jawanda was declared dead at 10:55 am on Wednesday.

Jawanda had been in critical condition for several days following the accident, which occurred in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district while he was traveling to Shimla on his motorcycle.

“Despite extensive medical support and continuous monitoring by the critical care and neurosurgery teams, he succumbed to multiple organ failure this morning,” according to a hospital statement.

Following his death, Rajvir Jawanda’s body was taken from Fortis Hospital to his residence in Sector 71, Mohali. It will later be moved to Panchkula Civil Hospital for a postmortem examination.

After the autopsy, the body will be taken to his native village, Pona, near Jagraon in Ludhiana district, where the cremation is scheduled for Thursday at 11 am.

The accident occurred in the Baddi area while Jawanda was riding with five friends, when he lost control of the motorcycle. He sustained severe spinal injuries and brain damage in the road accident and was on life support.

The singer suffered a cardiac arrest at a hospital in Solan before being shifted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali in an extremely critical condition on September 27.

Jawanda is known for his songs "Tu dis penda", "Khush reha kar", "Sardari", 'Surname", "Afreen", "Landlord", "Down to earth" and "Kangani".

He also acted in Gippy Grewal-starrer Punjabi movie "Subedar Joginder Singh" in 2018, "Jind Jaan" in 2019 and "Mindo Taseeldarni" in 2019.
