New Delhi, April 20

The Shiromani Akali Dal is holding a series of “akhand paths” after wresting back control of its office at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj. The first of the five “akhand paths” ended today with an ardaas (prayer) where SAD chief Sukhbir Badal was present. He said, “A faction had used force to take control of it. The community has restored possession to the SAD.”

The office had been taken over by a group led by Harmeet Singh Kalka, who broke away from the SAD and formed his own party. Meanwhile, Sukhbir appointed Avtar Singh Hit as Akali Dal’s Delhi unit head. —
