Ravi floods submerge half of Kartarpur Sahib gurdwara on India-Pakistan border
The revered Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, a central pilgrimage site for Sikhs, has been severely affected by flooding after large volumes of water were released into the Ravi river from Pakistan.
Visuals show parts of Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara complex submerged under floodwaters.
Floodwaters wreaked havoc at Sri Kartarpur Sahib Pakistan submerging the lower portion of the Gurdwara Sahib around 3 AM. Angitha Sahib, Mazar Sahib & Khooh Sahib have gone underwater, contact with sevadars has been lost, and rescue operations are currently underway.

Sources in contact with individuals at the site have confirmed widespread waterlogging, with two to three feet of standing water throughout the premises. reports sikhsiyasatnews.
Inside the Darbar Sahib, four steps of the main staircase are submerged, and stagnant water continues to rise, raising concerns about further deterioration of the situation.
The mazar located outside the Darbar Sahib is reported to be completely underwater, and the samadh on the ground floor of the shrine has also been submerged.
However, the sacred Saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the sevadars (volunteers) remain safe on the first floor. Pakistani authorities are preparing evacuation plans, including the use of helicopters and vehicles, should conditions worsen.
In addition to the Gurdwara complex, nearby villages have also been impacted. Floodwaters breached the Kartarpur Sahib–Narowal road, disrupting local transportation and daily life in the surrounding areas.
The Kartarpur Corridor — which connects Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab with Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan and was inaugurated in 2019 to mark the 550th Parkash Gurpurab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji — remains closed since April 22, 2025.
The closure followed the Pehalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, after which Indian authorities suspended cross-border movement.
