Recite path for removing ‘kakkars’: Giani Gargaj to Ludhiana granthi
Officiating Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj on Saturday directed Granthi Harpreet Singh of Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib in Ludhiana to offer karah parshad (deg) and recite “Japji Sahib” path for five times after taking a dip in “Amrit Sarovar” of the Golden Temple for removing five “kakkars”, worn by batised Sikhs.
The response from newly appointed Jathedar came days after a video went viral in which Granthi Harpreet could be seen removing “kakkars”, citing hatching of conspiracy against him by the gurdwara management committee.
Yesterday, Giani Gargaj had asked Granthi Harpreet to appear before the Akal Takht Secretariat in this regard.
Regretting his move, Granthi Harpreet blamed the gurdwara management committee of playing politics with him.
Giani Gargaj made it clear that in no way the move should be inferred as a punishment to Granthi Harpreet. He assured him that his issues with the local gurdwara committee would be resolved soon.
Meanwhile, Giani Gargaj held his first meeting with preachers of Dharm Prachar Lehar, Majha, on Saturday. Head Granthi of Akal Takht Giani Malkiat Singh and secretary of Dharm Prachar committee Bijay Singh were also present. The Jathedar said Sikh preachers should reach the people and convey the message of Guru Nanak Dev to the sangat.
