Reforms sought in travel professionals Act
The Association of Licensed Immigration and Education Consultants (ALIEC) today called for reforms in the Punjab Travel Professionals Regulation Act, 2013, to plug loopholes that allow illegal operators to thrive.
Addressing a press conference here today, ALIEC president Jatinder Benipal said existing rules were not adequate to check illegal immigration. Regulations allowing enhanced accountability would draw a clear line between legitimate consultants and those exploiting individuals to make them travel illegally, he said.
The association urged the police to organise awareness camps on the issue.
