Chandigarh, January 11

A rift between Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and senior leader Navjot Singh Sidhu widened today with the latter hitting out at the former on social media.

Before going to meet state political affairs in-charge Devendra Yadav, Sidhu posted a cryptic video on X, stating that spineless leaders who could not stand for the right were now talking big.

Face-off at hotel

  • A short while after Navjot Sidhu posted the video, the two leaders reportedly had a face-off at a hotel on Thursday morning, where Yadav was staying
  • As soon as Sidhu reached to meet Yadav, PCC chief also entered the hotel. The two leaders adopted hostile posturing towards each other in the presence of Yadav

In the video, Sidhu said, “Kaudi kaudi bikey hue log, Samjhauta karke ghutno pe tike hue log. Bargad ki baat karte hain, gamle me uge hue log.” Though former PCC chief did not name anyone, his post appeared to target Warring and his other detractors within the party.

A short while after Sidhu posted the video, the two leaders reportedly had a face-off at a hotel here this morning, where Yadav was staying.

As soon as Sidhu reached to meet Yadav, Warring also entered the hotel. The two leaders adopted hostile posturing towards each other in the presence of Yadav.

After the meeting, Sidhu said everyone had to maintain discipline. He added that it could not be one thing for a few and something else for the rest. He said it was everyone’s responsibility to take the party’s ideology to the people.

Sidhu pointed out that his public meetings were scheduled before Yadav’s visit to the state. The former PCC chief said he would hold another public meeting on January 21 and go to Kartarpur Sahib on January 24.

This comes a day after Warring categorically said anti-party activities would not be tolerated. Speaking on Sidhu’s rallies, Warring had said that the party’s programmes should be held in consultation with the state unit. Without naming anyone, Warring said those playing “spoilsport” would face the consequences.

He had said, “The party’s programme should be held according to the state unit president’s wishes. Warring has a big heart. I have no insecurity from anyone. Some people have a good height but a small heart and they feel threatened.”
