Ropar, March 10
The Aam Adami Party (AAP) leaders have alleged the state government was preparing to shut down the Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant. While two of the six power generation units are likely to be dismantled soon, over 1,000 posts in the plant have already been abolished, they alleged.
Ropar Aam Adami Party in charge Dinesh Chadha said the Punjab State Power Corporation on September 10 last year abolished 1,049 posts at the thermal plant. Later, again 89 posts were abolished on December 21, he claimed.
He alleged these steps of authorities indicating closure of the plant had put the future of employees at stake. The plant’s closure would hit the economy of area badly, he said.
