A day after the son of Krishan Bhagwan, who was killed in the police firing at Behbal Kalan in 2015, stated that he would not cooperate with the new SIT as the Advocate General (AG) failed in his duty to competently argue the case in the High Court, Rajya Sabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa said he had been consistently raising the issue with the Chief Minister.

“For the benefit of the state and to safeguard the image of the Indian National Congress, it is essential to remove the albatross from the government neck and remove Atul Nanda from his post as Advocate General of Punjab. He has continuously been hiring special counsels from New Delhi at high costs to the public exchequer,” said Bajwa.

“We have reached a crossroads both in state and party. The AG must be removed if the government wishes to truly rebuild bridges with the public. Anything less would also be breaking the solemn promise of the INC in bringing the perpetrators of these heinous crimes to justice,” Bajwa said.
