Chandigarh, February 27
The SAD today demanded resignation of Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu for his role in allegedly shielding those behind the diversion of five crore buprenorphine tablets to private centres.
Addressing a press meet in the Vidhan Sabha along with the SAD legislative wing members, former minister Bikram Singh Majithia said the minister should not only be removed, but a case should also be registered against him under the NDPS Act. “A separate inquiry should also be ordered into the matter. The ED is already carrying out a probe into the Rs300-crore scam,” he said.
Giving details of the new evidence against Balbir Sidhu, the SAD leader said the Principal Secretary, Health, had served 12 show-cause notices to private centres on December 2, 2019, with details of missing drug tablets. — TNS
