Leaders of SAD today presided over a youth workers meeting to mobilise maximum support for February 2 Sangrur rally of party president Sukhbir Badal, while rebel SAD leader and Lehra MLA Parminder Singh Dhindsa also presided over a meeting of his supporters who announced to fight for the restoration of democracy in the party.

“The February 2 rally at the Sangrur grain market will prove that the party is bigger than Dhindsas, who have lost base even in Sangrur after backstabbing SAD. We have been getting calls from leaders of Sangrur and Barnala and they have been working hard to make the rally a grand success,” said Winnerjit Singh Goldy, SAD spokesperson, after a meeting of youth leaders at a local hotel.

But during the meeting of his supporters at his Sangrur residence, Parminder Dhindsa claimed that he and his father had been fighting for the restoration of democracy in SAD.

“We have been getting good support from leaders across the state as all know that SAD has been going down due to the wrong policies of some leaders, who want to keep the party under their control. But our fight is to restore democracy and principles of party and it will continue,” said Dhindsa.

His supporters alleged that SAD president Sukhbir Badal had been supporting his sycophants and hardworking workers are being ignored.

“The Dhindsa have done nothing wrong and they have raised their voice only for the betterment of the party. All supporters of Dhindsas are standing with them as we know they will defeat Badals in coming days,” said Vijay Kumar, a Dhindsa supporter.
