SAD legislators court arrest

SAD legislators today broke through police barriers, braved water cannons and courted arrest to protest the Congress government for betraying Punjabis and keeping the “real Opposition” out of the Vidhan Sabha during Budget presentation.

The MLAs marched towards the Assembly, raising ‘Manpreet, Captain murdabad’ and ‘Kisana da katil, Manpreet murdabad’ slogans before being stopped by the police.

The legislators, however, broke through the police barricading and marched ahead, but the police unleashed water cannons on them. They later courted arrest and were taken to the Sector 3 police station, where they held a ‘dharna’ against the government. — TNS
