Shiromani Akali Dal objects to 'wrong info' on Anandpur Sahib Resolution in NCERT Class XII books
New Delhi, April 9
The Delhi unit of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has asked the Central Government to act responsibly and has voiced concern over “misrepresentation” of Anandpur Sahib Resolution, 1973, in Class XII books prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
Paramjit Singh Sarna, who heads the Delhi unit of SAD, said Anandpur Sahib Resolution called for greater powers to states within the Indian Union, something advocated by Mahatma Gandhi and demanded by various political parties.
He pointed out that this misinterpretation of the Anandpur Sahib Resolution and other key changes in history textbooks was an attempt to undermine religious minorities and further the “Hindu Rashtra” agenda.
Sarna cautioned the Centre not to commit mistakes made by previous governments in their dealings with the Sikhs as it would further alienate the community from the BJP.
