SAD panel to meet on Jan 10 to consider Sukhbir’s resignation

It will also decide on holding a membership drive to pave the way for restructuring of the party by holding organisational elections

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Working President Balwinder Singh Bhundar has convened a meeting of the party’s Working Committee on January 10 to take a decision on the resignation submitted by SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal.

It will also decide on holding a membership drive to pave the way for restructuring of the party by holding organisational elections.

Announcing this, senior party leader Daljit Singh Cheema said the meeting of the Working Committee would be held at the party head office here. He said that besides considering Badal’s resignation, the party would also announce the schedule for the membership drive besides discussing all important issues related to the state.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
