Simranjit Singh Mann today announced the candidature of his grandson Govind Singh Sandhu (27) for the Barnala bypoll.
Govind is the son of Mann’s daughter Pavit Kaur. This is the first foray into elections for Govind. He has graduated in history (honours) from Delhi University after passing out from Doon School, Dehradun. He is already the organising secretary of the party.
Mann said the candidates for the remaining three constituencies Giddarbaha, Chabbewal and Dera Baba Nanak would be decided at the next meeting. The representatives of all Panthic outfits present on the occasion appealed to ensure a resounding victory for Govind Singh Sandhu in the bypoll.
The meeting was attended by former Akal Takht Jathedar Jasvir Singh Rode and Shere Punjab Akali Dal president Gurdeep Singh Bathinda along with representatives of various organisations and political outfits.
