Sapta Shakti Command observes Veterans’ Day-2025 in Rajasthan
The Sapta Shakti Command marked “Veterans’ Day 2025” with a special celebration in Rajasthan, honouring the sacrifices and contributions of veterans, serving personnel, and their families. The event, held on Monday, brought together military personnel and their families to pay tribute to the nation’s heroes.
The day began with a wreath-laying ceremony at Prerna Sthal, Jaipur, attended by Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, Governor of Rajasthan, and Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, Army Commander, Sapta Shakti Command. A felicitation ceremony at the Sapta Shakti Auditorium followed, where veterans and Veer Naris (war widows) were honoured for their immense sacrifices.
Veterans’ Day, observed annually on January 14, commemorates the retirement of Field Marshal KM Cariappa, Order of the British Empire (OBE), and the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army. Initiated in 2017, the day serves as an occasion to express gratitude for the service of veterans who have contributed to the nation, especially during key wars and national emergencies.
Governor Bagde expressed deep appreciation for the veterans’ courage and dedication, acknowledging their bravery in the 1947, 1965, 1971, and 1999 wars. He also highlighted Rajasthan’s significant contribution to the armed forces and its longstanding tradition of service to the nation.
Lt General Manjinder Singh spoke about the vital role of veterans and Veer Naris in nation-building, emphasizing their contributions in sectors like education, industry, and societal development. He reiterated that the day was an opportunity to honour and remember the sacrifices of these heroes.
Col Amitabh Sharma, a spokesperson for Sapta Shakti Command, shared details about various welfare initiatives, including Job Melas, Ex-Servicemen allies, and the SPARSH outreach programs.
He mentioned the ongoing efforts of Satat Milap teams, which have resolved numerous issues for veterans and Veer Naris. Additionally, 14 Sainik Sahayata Kendras have helped address 90% of veterans’ problems through telephone, internet, and SMS support in the past two months.
