Saragarhi War Memorial inaugurated
Marking the 127th anniversary of the Battle of Saragarhi which has been recorded as one of the most daring feat of chivalry in the history of military warfare, Cabinet Minister Dr Baljeet Kaur today inaugurated “Saragarhi War Memorial” in Ferozepur.
The minister said, “This memorial is a testimony to the unflinching bravery of 21 Sikh soldiers of the 36 Sikh Regiment who displayed exemplary courage while fighting against more than 10,000 Pathans.” She said the memorial had been set up at a cost of Rs 2 crore and the AAP government would leave no stone unturned to connect the people with the glorious legacy.
“It is a matter of great pride that the soldiers were awarded the ‘Indian Order of Merit’ i.e. Victoria Cross,” said the minister, adding that all-round development of historical places would boost tourism in the state.
