Preliminary investigations reportedly indicated that at least three persons in police uniform, along with nine others, wielding sharp-edged weapons and firearms, barged into a house at 11 pm and allegedly killed Babbar Singh aka Babbi.

They also assaulted his mother Issar Kaur and Davinder when they tried to intervene.

The accused fled when some villagers responded to cries for help.
