Jashan Bawa (27), the sarpanch of Tarinda village in Guruharsahai subdivision having allegiance to AAP, allegedly committed suicide with his licensed pistol, moments after posting an emotional message on the social media.The victim's father Tarsem Lal said Jashan was a good kabaddi player and being a sportsman he had the “never-say-die” attitude. “We don’t know what was going in his mind. Yesterday, we had dinner together around 9.30 pm following which he went to his room saying he was going to sleep,” said Lal, adding that later, Jashan went to the washroom and shot himself.

Jashan was unmarried and lived with his brother and parents. The exact reason behind the incident could not be ascertained.

Officials from the Lakho Ke Behram police station have initiated inquest proceedings into the incident.
