SC panel takes note of Warring’s remarks against late Buta Singh
State Congress chief tenders apology
The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of alleged derogatory remarks reportedly made by state Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring against former Union Home Minister and Dalit leader late Buta Singh.
In a video, Warring can allegedly be heard referring to Buta Singh in an objectionable language at a rally held for the Tarn Taran bypoll.
Commission Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi said the matter had come to their attention through social media posts highlighting that Warring had made remarks related to colour and race while referring to the former Home Minister, who hailed from the SC community.
The Commission has issued a notice to Warring, directing him to file his response by November 6. In addition, the Commission has sought a detailed report from the returning officer by November 4.
