Vinesh Kumar, the owner of the warehouse, said he had come to Abohar for some work. He said at around 11 pm he got information about a fire at his warehouse. He said he contacted the fire station and took the staff along with a fire tender vehicle to the village. He said he saw the junk lying in the godown was burning.

Vinesh said the fire brigade began to control the fire; however, there were a lot of inflammable substances in the godown, so the fire kept increasing. Thus, the department had to call more fire tenders to extinguish the fire. Meanwhile, the people of the village also made efforts to control the fire the whole night. With joint efforts, the fire was tamed by the morning.

Vinesh Kumar and other shopkeepers suspected some foul play by miscreants, as fire would not have been possible a few minutes after the downpour.
