SDM’s car rams into bike, three of family killed, officer injured
Seven persons, including three members of a family, were killed in two separate road accidents in Tarn Taran. In one of the incidents, SDM Patti and his official driver were injured.
The first accident occurred on the Tarn Taran-Patti road on Tuesday morning, claiming the lives of three members of a family and injuring SDM Patti and his driver. The second accident took place near Dode village late Monday night, where four persons on two motorcycles died in a head-on collision.
Inspector Harpreet Singh Virk, SHO of Patti City police station said SDM Preetinder Singh was travelling from Tarn Taran to Patti in his official vehicle when the incident occurred near Lauhuka village when the car’s tyre burst. The driver lost control of the vehicle which collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
The motorcycle riders, identified as Sangram Singh (25) and his mother Rajbir Kaur (45) from Assal village, near Patti, died on the spot. Jashandeep Singh (18), Sangram’s cousin, sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a local hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries.
The SDM and his driver, Varinder Singh, were admitted to a hospital in Amritsar, where their condition is reported to be stable.
In the second accident on the Chabal-Attari road, the deceased were identified as Gaurav Singh and his wife Mansi Kaur from Gandiwind Sarai, who were travelling to Chabal village, and Rahuldeep Singh and his friend Jashandeep Singh from Gehri village, who were returning to their village from Chabal. The two motorcycles collided head-on near the Dode village bridge.
